Isabellas Italian Trattoria has moved! After spending ten years in its Old Forest Road location, the trattoria has moved to its new home on Boonesboro Road in northwest Lynchburg.

If you liked the "old" Isabella's, you will love the new one. If you go to Boonesboro Shopping center looking for Meriwether's Market restaurant, you will see that it has magically morphed into Isabella's under the very capable management of owners, Andrew and Cheri Barauskas.

For a bit of history, it was decided that Lynchburg's second Wal-Mart had to be located in the same Old Forest Road shopping center that once housed Isabella’s, Vines, Mudpuppies and Jazz Street Grill. All four of these fine restaurants were forced to find new homes.

Isabella's is best described as comfortable elegance, contemporary, and accommodating to the individual diner as well as larger groups. The restaurant now seats 150 people, about 50 less than Meriwether’s old 200 capacity but 50 more than Isabella’s 100 seat capacity in their former location.

We can't talk about "the" menu at isabellas because there is a different menu for lunch, dinner, the bar, Sunday brunch, and dessert. Let's not forget the mouth-watering creations from the brick pizza oven. Then there is the wine list...extensive and tasteful; a list appealing to the most discriminating oenophile.

There are a few menu changes that took place since the move. The Barauskas' kept some of the best from the Meriwether menu, for example the flourless chocolate cupcakes and the roasted red pepper and crab soup.

They also added a few choice items such as the roasted asparagus and arugula salad with local goat cheese and a grilled tuna entrée served with Israeli cous cous, pancetta and Italian hollandaise.

Isabella's is designed to cater to all needs. For example, there is the private dining room seating about 25 people which features connectivity for business presentations.

The Fireplace Room can comfortably seat 40 guests and then there are the casual, secluded tables for those private conversations. Lastly there is a patio dining area and it's on-premises wine market.

As a testament to Isabella's popularity, it was voted the Number One Italian restaurant in Lynchburg for 2008 by the readers of the Lynchburg Living magazine (January/February 2009 issue).

Being located in the upscale Boonsboro Shopping Center, either before or after your gourmet meal, you can browse or shop at some of the finest clothing stores, toy, specialty and gift shops in Lynchburg and Central Virginia.

If you live in Lynchburg or are visiting Lynchburg, a meal at Isabellas Italian Trattoria is a must.
