Amtrak serves Lyncburg very well Come Ride the Rails
Amtrak is the way to ride the rails in Lynchburg; well actually, it's the only way. Railroads have always been of great interest in Lynchburg, going way back to pre-civil war years. Today Lynchburg is blessed with wonderful rail service operating from a terminal located at: 825 Kemper Street Lynchburg, VA 24501 The office is below street level at track level (down the stairs on the left side of the terminal building). If stairs aren't feasible, then drive past the building and turn left, down the hill, into the lower level parking at trackside. The station can be a bit tricky to find if you have never been there before since, as is typical with Lynchburg streets, Fort Avenue, Park Avenue and Kemper Avenue can be confusing where they all converge. If coming from town, the best bet is to go up 5th Street, turn left onto Park, then left onto Kemper and left into the Station parking lot. Click on the Interactive Google Map to see the road layout.
