About Me
Want to know about the Lynchburg, VA insider website? OK, then Hi, my name is Richard and I live in Lynchburg, Virginia. Lynchburg is a beautiful, small community on the bank of the James River near the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is where I live and I have come to love it and think of it as home; at least since January of 2007. Living in Lynchburg or anywhere else for a few years hardly makes one an “insider”. In Lynchburg, no one is considered a native or “insider” unless they can show that their ancestors settled the area around the time of the Revolutionary War. So what is it that makes me think I am qualified to create a website called the www.lynchburg-va-insider.com? Well, actually nothing. I didn’t start the website. The originator of the site and the real “insider” is a retired Lynchburg physician. I purchased the site from him about a year ago when he decided that he could no longer devote the time and energy to it. My objective is to keep the site going and growing and to display all the best features of this wonderful city. Who knows, someday I just might become a true insider, or maybe just change my name to Lynch, Langhorne, Cabell, Daniel or Falwell. Throughout the course of my career, I was fortunate to have visited about 23 different countries. My career also took me all over the U.S. and, after retirement, I was able to see much of it through the windshield of a large motor home and from numerous scenic RV parks as base camps. The point is that after seeing much of the U.S. and having the option to finally settle down anywhere in the country, Lynchburg, VA won out. So not having a family history going back to the founders of Lynchburg or not being a civic leader or mover and shaker, nor being on one of the city’s A-lists, I nevertheless feel like an insider for no other reason than loving the city, the surrounding counties and the residents. Stop by and see us sometime, we’ll keep a light on for you.
